Another trip to the States down, another step closer to H1's triumphant return.
I went to New York this time around for a blissful, unprecedented three weeks of solid husband time. Two of those were spent working remotely from a desk in SoHo, and one was spent on holiday up in the Cape. It was the first time H1 and I had spent any normal time together since I left nearly a year ago, and the first time I'd been back to NYC, and initially that was a bit strange but good...definitely good. Being back in the city was strange. Working again in the city was strange. Hanging out with H1 when we both had work to think about and focus on was strange – I for one had got used to the idea that being together meant being on holiday, and was highly confused by work continually getting in the way of lying by a pool with a frosty drink.
By the end it was just awesome without even the slightest weirdness, and now, from this jet-lagged winter-shocked super-tired vantage point, I miss it terribly. Mostly H1, but New York too, a bit. I'd still rather live in New Zealand but…well. You always miss somewhere, don't you? And New Zealand's not quite my home, not yet. It won't be until H1's here too.
Good news is, that's not too far away now! The year's more than half over already. One more goodbye left…and lots of hellos.
